FUTURE VISION

2030~ Mobility

Living in Japan and after been involved on diverse innovation projects around mobility with the R&D teams of car manufactures such as Nissan, made us think, what would vehicles of the near future should be all about - Thinking on business, human and sustainable needs .

Here we introduce our humble vision for the future where we bring back the Metabolism Architecture 新陳代謝 movement applied to mobility.

2030~ A Metabolist Mobility

In a world where safety, accessibility, efficiency and sustainability would be required by law, some of today’s big car manufacturers will become extinct, leaving design- & technology-driven companies to lead the mobility industry.

Clean autonomous hardware will be the only way to conceive vehicles from there onwards. Human-Driving, in the way we know it today, will be considered a safety threat and may even become illegal in public roads and streets, allowed only for human recreation within closed circuits.

“Vehicles” will become a service, rather than a belonging, for the user. Without that sense of attachment, companies will have the opportunity to create multi-purpose hardware that can morph quickly, to be adapted to any demand with efficiency and profitability. Reusable modules and recyclable materials will enable constant updates and modifications, based on the user’s needs.

There will be a dramatic shift in urban landscape design and how we interact with the cities (or cities with humans). “Vehicles” will blend seamlessly into the surrounding space, adding value when its main (mobility) purpose is inactive or not required. For instance, they could become gardens or intelligent illumination systems or media platforms…

This future has already started.
